Chemical Bonding

Covalent Bond

11
⚡ Quick Summary
A covalent bond is formed when electrons from neighboring atoms are shared between the atoms.
N/A
In a covalent bond, electrons from neighboring atoms are made available for sharing between the atoms. When two hydrogen atoms come close to each other, both the electrons are available to both the nuclei. In other words, each electron moves through the total space occupied by the two atoms. Each electron is pulled by both the nuclei. Chlorine molecule and hydrogen chloride (HCl) molecule are also formed by this mechanism. Two chlorine atoms share a pair of electrons to form the bond.
