Area under a curve

11
⚡ Quick Summary
The area under a curve represents the integral of the function. We can approximate it by dividing the area into small rectangles and summing their areas. In simple terms, it's like adding up lots of tiny slices to find the total area.
Area = ∫[a,b] f(x) dx
  • The area bounded by the curve y = f(x), the x-axis, and the ordinates at x = a and x = b is given by the definite integral ∫[a,b] f(x) dx.
  • If the function is below the x-axis, the area is considered negative.
